Avatech Antimicrobial Cleaning Cloths Improve Hygiene in Public Washrooms

In 2023, Avatech antimicrobial cleaning cloths were adopted in the public washrooms of a MTR Station to demonstrate its efficacy in maintaining hygiene standards in a super high footfall, challenging public environment without the use of any detergent.

Prior to the use of Avatech cloths, the Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) testing on the toilet boards in the male washroom indicated a high contamination level of 3006 Relative Light Units (RLU), a measure of cleanliness where lower values represent cleaner surfaces. After the introduction of Avatech's cleaning cloth for a month, the ATP levels plummeted to a significantly lower 265 RLU, showcasing an impressive reduction in potential microbial presence. This substantial decrease in RLU not only signifies a cleaner environment but also reflects the potential for Avatech cloths to minimize the risk of pathogen transmission in high-traffic public spaces.

Moreover, the durability and sustained antimicrobial properties of Avatech cloths were evident when ATP measurements were taken after more than 10 days of usage. The readings showed 1420 RLU for the cleaning cloth in male washroom and an exceptionally low 88 RLU for the cleaning cloth in female washroom. Notably, after a resting period of 6 hours, these figures reduced further to 965 RLU and 38 RLU, respectively. This self-sanitizing feature of Avatech cloths indicates a continuous antimicrobial action, even when not in use.

The absence of respiratory pathogens, E. coli, and K. pneumoniae on the wiping cloths after extensive use further validates the effectiveness of Avatech's fabric in maintaining a hygienic environment. Such results underscore the potential of Avatech cleaning cloths to revolutionize sanitation protocols, particularly in public washrooms where the current level of hygiene has been criticized for long.
